Following Franz Schubert’s immense contribution to the genre, the art song has since maintained a prominent place in composers’ output both in Europe and in the United States up through present day. Jennifer Lindshield (soprano) and John Kamfonas (piano) present a “frühlingsreise” (spring journey) of music for voice and piano by avant garde composers active during the 20th century that added new dimensions to the rapport between text and sound.
