Sunday Afternoon Visual Arts Showcase: Claude Monet's Chicago Hits


The Art Institute of Chicago houses the largest collection of Claude Monet’s paintings outside of Paris.  Its “Monet And Chicago” exhibition, which opened in Sept 2020, assembles over 70 of the artist’s greatest “Chicago Hits”, curated from the museum’s own collection and from prominent, private art collectors in Chicago at the turn of the twentieth century.  Artist and Impressionist Era art lecturer Pamela Morton will lead a discussion of Monet's stylistic developments as showcased in the Art Institute’s largest Monet Exhibition since 1995.

Speaker Bio: Pamela Morton is an artist and university teacher who has been living and working in the south of France for over thirty years. An expert on Provence and the artists of the south, she has organized and led museum and site visits for cultural organizations and college students. She lectures on Picasso and Matisse as well as on Cezanne and van Gogh and has taught painting and drawing along with 19th and 20th century art history courses for study abroad programs in Aix and Marseille.
